When temperatures rise, there’s hardly anything better than a refreshing dip in a lake. Around Natz-Schabs, you’ll find some of South Tyrol’s most beautiful natural swimming lakes, perfect for day trips with family or friends. Here are our favorites:
Issinger Weiher (approx. 25 minutes from Natz)
Located near Pfalzen, Issinger Weiher – also known as the “Puschtra Sea” – is a perfect spot for families. A large sunbathing lawn and a lakeside café make it easy to spend a relaxing day here. Right next to the lake, there’s also a high ropes course – ideal for those who want to combine adventure and relaxation.
Natural Swimming Pond Lüsen (approx. 30 minutes from Natz)
A bit smaller, but full of charm: the natural swimming pond in Lüsen. Its water is purified without any chemicals, making it especially family-friendly. With a lawn, wooden piers, shallow access, and a play area, it’s perfect for a relaxed afternoon.
Lake Kaltern (approx. 45 minutes from Natz)
Lake Kaltern is one of South Tyrol’s most popular bathing lakes. You can swim, paddleboard, rent a pedal boat, or just relax on the shore. This trip is also perfect to combine with a short hike – like walking around the lake or heading to the nearby Rastbachklamm waterfalls.
Montiggler Lakes (approx. 50 minutes from Natz)
In the Montiggl Forest near Eppan, you’ll find the Large and Small Montiggler Lakes. The Large Lake has a public beach with pier, diving platform, and boat rental. The Small Lake is hidden deeper in the forest – a peaceful retreat for those seeking quiet.
Völser Weiher (approx. 50 minutes from Natz)
At the foot of the Schlern mountain lies the Völser Weiher – considered one of Italy’s cleanest bathing lakes. Surrounded by forest and mountains, it’s a dream for nature and hiking lovers. Along with swimming, you can enjoy rowing boats, a sun terrace, and hiking trails around the lake.
